Micaela Greg is a labor of love and a lifelong ambition of two sisters, Marie and Karen Potesta. Only fifteen months apart, they grew up cultivating their love of art and fashion. Born and raised in a quiet suburb outside of Detroit, they spent most of their childhood with the Italian grandparents. Their grandmother, a master dressmaker and their grandfather, a shoemaker, became their greatest influence. Their grandmother taught them meticulous craft and attention to detail while their grandfather, an inventor at heart, taught them experimentation. After an imaginative chilhood the two went on to study art and design. As a result, Micaela Greg emerged from years of creating and experimenting. The knitwear line is nostalgic at heart but its influences are definitely downtown. It celebrates the unconventional and loves to surprise in its details.
The Fall ?09 collection previewed at New York?s Fashion Week and won the 2008 Avant Garde Gen Arts International Styles Award.
Micaela Greg's A/W '09 collection was inspired by Optical Art, giving classic knitwear pieces a geometric reinterpretation. Knits are finely constructed from the softest quality italian merino wool and designed in lovely San francisco.
